Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (to be more specfic, Whitaker, a small suburb just outside of Pittsburgh).


Education:Jeff went to High School at a small school called West Mifflin North High School in PA.

After High School he studied acting at New York City's Neighborhood Playhouse and the Carnegie Mellon University summer drama program.

Jeff is rumored to have studied piano with a Pittsburgh jazz pianist by the name of Frank Cunimondo.

Big Move: He moved to New York to study acting at age 17, working with the legendary Sanford Meisner.

Roots in acting: Jeff's first notable stage role was as a guard in Joe Papp's New York production of Two Gentlemen of Verona.

While performing in the comic review El Grande de Coca Cola, Goldblum was spotted by director Robert Altman, who cast him in small roles in California Split (1974) and in the ensemble movie Nashville (1975). From then he on, he was cast in many comedy films before his big films, Jurassic and Independence Day.

1983: Star of Tomorrow Award. Presented by the National Association of Theater Owners.
1987: Saturn Award for Best Actor in "The Fly"

Nominated for an Academy Award: Best director in a live action short for his film "Little Surprises."

Patricia Gaul: An actress who was in "The Big Chill". Married 1980; divorced.
Geena Davis: They met during the filming of Transylvania 6-5000 (1985); costarred in The Fly(1986); married November 1, 1987; costarred in Earth Girls Are Easy (1989); filed for divorce October 1990.
Laura Dern. Actress. Met during 1992 filming of Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park (1993); engaged on December 25, 1994; reportedly separated by December 1996. They were never married.

Father: Doctor Harold Goldblum (deceased). Jeff was the third of four children and his father believed in "fierce discipline".

Siblings: Jeff has two brothers Rick (who died at the age of 23 of kindey failure, Jeff was 19) and a brother who is a real estate agent in Pitsburgh. His sister, Pamela Goldblum, is an artist and an actress.

Other job: Jeff occasionally teaches acting at a school in Los Angeles. His school teaches the Meisner technique and has guided some of the most well known actors of our today including Jeff's former co-stars Jim Carrey and Michelle Peifer (Jeff didn't teach either).

Hobbies: Jeff enjoys Jazz. He and some of his friends (one being Peter Weller from the movie "Buckaroo Banzai") have their own informal band. Jeff plays the piano and sings on occasion. You won't find them coming to a town near you. They can be found Monday nights at an exclusive club in LA.

One of the major complaints the crew of ID4 had about Jeff was that they could never get any work done with him around. It is reported that he often lead the cast and crew in singalongs. He would break into show tunes whenever nothing else was going on the set and he and a few other members even tap danced around the set.
